Long live Grey Francis
This second book in the INTO THE DARK WOODS series and focuses primarily on Alastair’s story… It is a smartly written book with a well-planned storyline. The story unfolds at a good pace which makes for entertaining reading. Each scene is presented with such rich and sophisticated detail the reader is taken on a journey and transformed into more of a voyeur hiding behind a velvet curtain… observing something forbidden. It’s hard to grasp that all this was created from an imagination. One is led to wonder if Grey Francis isn’t merely an author writing a story but –perhaps—a true vampires who lived it and is now opening up to tell her tale through the ages of this threesome’s adventures and struggles with sex, power, revenge, torture, lust, respect and – of course – love. I look forward to the next installment in this series!

The characters are as addicting as the storyline. It is hard to put down. You fall in love with Killian and his mates and family. Alastair has my heart, as well as Haven and Tristan.

They say reluctant leaders are the best leaders. Between flashbacks and doubts about his leadership, Alastair goes through a roller-coaster ride taking the reader with him. The passion between him and Killian sets this book on fire and make every page worth reading.

G. Francis uses words to seduce the reader into an extraordinary world. Vampires are beautiful and deadly and yet she shows the human side of her creatures. The world is breathtaking, and the history the reader follows the characters through is pure literature. This is not a quick read and should not be approached as such. This is an experience as she wraps you in her story… Once in your hands, it is nearly impossible to put down.

I loved Bound to a Vampire, but this one is even better. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire book and somehow fell more in love with Alastair in this one than I did in the first. I love this series and can’t wait for the next one.

Once Again, Grey Francis has blown me away with her storytelling…
When I read her first book, Bound to a Vampire, I was not prepared for the rollercoaster ride that Grey took me on. I cried at some parts, screamed for joy in others, and fell in love with her incredible writing from the first page. When I read King in Chains, it was the exact same scenario. Grey has a way of pulling you into the story and you can’t turn the pages quick to know what happens next.
Alastair’s story is told in this book, and like his mate Cassandra, he has been through a lot in his mortal and immortal life. He was brought up by Killian in the dangerous and seductive world of vampires, and the two have a tug-of-war of sorts due to his reluctance to be turned by Killian. The two care for each other deeply, but there’s a rift in their relationship. That is just the start of what turns out to be an action-packed, sensual, heart-wrenching novel that will leave you wanting more and falling in love with his character and everything he went through.
I will not give any spoilers in this review, but I highly recommend this book to those who love hot vampires, steamy moments, and a rich tale that takes you through 1600’s England up to the present day. Grey’s prose and storytelling abilities continue to blow me out of the water, and she really put her heart and soul into KIC just as she did BTAV. Alastair’s tale is one of seduction, power, growth, and trust me… this book will not disappoint.

This book was amazing! Alastair & Cassie have finally been reunited with Killian. Alastair has to learn to trust Killian again. We get a look back into Alastair’s past. Someone from his past is threatening Alastair’s family. The book contains love, betrayal, kidnapping, torture, longing, loss, redemption, erotic BDSM, and tons of hot steamy intimacy. Amazing book… could not put it down… can’t wait until the next book is released!!
