Grey Francis
dark paranormal romances
I have always been a storyteller –
first as a journalist and later as a screenwriter, but my true passion is writing books. My stories rarely stray too far from dark fantasy — be it the mysteries of reincarnation, the magical realms of witches, or my never-ending love affair with vampires. But romance is the common thread running through all my work.
Writing my Into the Dark Woods series has been the most transformative experience of my professional life. I fell deeply in love with all these characters. Some were only meant to be secondary characters, but once I got to know them, they took over, stole my heart, and stepped into the spotlight. I never get tired spending time with a roguish, tormented, morally gray MMC.
I will be continuing this series as there are characters whose stories still need to be told. And to be honest, it is a world that feels like a home I can’t stay away from too long. But I have also started exploring new realms and I have some exciting books in progress including a story that falls loosely into the dark academia genre that is both haunting and my first slow burn.
My greatest teachers are other writers. I have been deeply influenced by the magnificent Anne Rice, Joey Hill, JR Ward, Tiffany Reisz, Victoria Schwab, Keri Lake and most recently (and profoundly) by M.L. Rio. I am a reader as much as I am a writer, which means I never stop being inspired.
I share my home with five cats, but it is my beloved Cleo (and familiar) who remains vigilantly at my side while I write. I am a divorced, single mom of two young adults whose support continues to be unwavering. My youngest child once proudly described me as a first-generation goth, which I thought was funny but true. I have a life-long love of Halloween, dark rainy days, and the mystical. Music is my lifeline and creative portal.
When not penning or obsessively reading, I enjoy cooking, with special affection for making big pots of soup. New Orleans is one of my favorite places to visit and wander her colorful streets and beautiful cemeteries, finding magic and inspiration. Lastly, it is my life goal to help support local and global cat communities in need.
