    Superb story telling.
The story begins where Bound to a Vampire ends. Killian, missing for two centuries, is apparently alive. Cassandra and Alastair, who formed a triad with Killian, can’t wait to have him back in their lives and in their bed. Alastair in particular wants Killian to take back his rightful place as Vampire King.

But things go desperately wrong. The three lovers, Cassandra, Alastair and Killian, discover that it is impossible to dismiss the pain of the past, and that forgiveness isn’t going to come easily for anyone. The war between human and vampire that began in Bound to a Vampire continues unabated, and it is a ruthless, bloody war. But there is more. Slowly, the three become aware of an even greater danger, an evil force manipulating events from behind the scenes, a force with unimaginable power capable of destroying everything Cassie, Alastair and Killian desire most. And the key to unraveling this force seems to be locked in the past.

King in Chains tells the story from Alastair’s point of view, from the very first time he meets the vampire Killian to the moment when they have to face their biggest challenge together, along with Cassandra, the other member of their triad. The novel moves fluently back and forth between quiet intimate moments to thrilling action, from the long ago past to modern day.
It is exciting, perplexing, heart-breaking, sexy and superbly entertaining!

Alastair was a great fighter but even he couldn’t survive the onslaught and … This is Alastair’s story beginning at the age of ten and going into the present. Killian is back after being gone for two hundred years but Alastair still can’t trust that he won’t disappear again. He and Cassie searched for him always having an empty spot in their hearts without him and if he leaves again Alastair is not sure he will be able to survive it.

It all began when at the age of ten Alastair joined the other men in his village to fight their enemy. Alastair was a great fighter but even he couldn’t survive the onslaught and he found himself surrounded by dead bodies while waiting for the mongrels to finish the job. That was when he found himself in the arms of a man carrying him to safety. The man was actually Master Vampire Killian and from that day on he was educated and trained.

Alastair always felt safe with Killian in spite of knowing he was a vampire but what he didn’t know was that his feelings for the vampire went deeper than just a sense of security because Killian knew immediately that Alastair was his True Mate. Killian did everything in his power to stay clear of Alastair and allow him to reach maturity but Alastair was never one to just go with the flow and eventually Killian found himself unable to stay away and bonded with him before he was eighteen. At twenty-two Alastair was to be turned but he refused. His best friend during his time with Killian was Finn and when Finn died during turning Alastair knew he would rather die fighting and so he refused Killian’s gift. Of course if you read book one then you know all that transpired between them.

Of course as soon as Killian returned to Cassie and Alastair they couldn’t get enough of each other and when Killian announced that he was going back to Europe to deal with the Sentient Society and taking Cassie with him Alastair was convinced that he would never see them again. He was not wrong because there is a new Master Vampire who is attacking and killing Alastair’s men but worse yet is that it is a woman and when she captures Haven, Alastair’s son and tortures him leaving him near death all bets are off. She has to die but easier said than done.

The vampire is a necromancer and she commands the dead and everytime Alastair gets close she comes out ahead. The last time they attacked her compound Alastair was taken and Killian and Cassie are in Europe and unaware of what has transpired. Alastiar is subjected to every form of punishment and even with his taste for pain he is pushed to the limit. The vampire is someone from his past and she will stop at nothing to have him and his throne. Can Alastair win against this monster when his powers are being subdued? Can Killian and Cassie arrive in time and save him? I can say without giving anything away that it is none stop tension.

This book is filled with secrets, surprises and explicit torture and BDSM. There is no limit to the amount of sex but then again vampires require sex as much as they require blood and BDSM is practiced by humans every day. In spite of all the torture and sex it was a book that was never dull and putting all of the sex and torture aside it is a story of a deep never ending love between the three main characters. I recommend reading the books in order and I can’t wait till the next book in the series.

We go back into the journey taken by Alaistair, Cassandra and Killian in Bound to a Vampire. These three lovers find it difficult to forget the past or forgive. And they also have to fight evil forces. What will happen when all seems lost? Because their adversary is very powerful with the intention to destroy all they hold dear.

KING IN CHAINS is a sensual paranormal tale of these three lovers. The story moves from the past and to the present fluidly. Author Grey Francis writes her own brand of sizzling as well as dramatic and thrilling scenes. This book is a sexy and entertaining read.
Recommended to all lovers of Paranormal/Vampire stories

Long live Grey Francis and her series INTO THE DARK WOODS!
King of Chains is BOOK 2 of Grey Francis’s series INTO THE DARK WOODS. I’ve also read BOUND TO A VAMPIRE which is the first novel of the series and equally well written; highly recommend that one as well. This second book focuses primarily on Alastair’s story and the genre has been rightly categorized as EROTICA/BDSM/ROMANCE with paranormal elements. It is a smartly written book with a well planned storyline. The story unfolds at a good pace which makes for entertaining reading. Each scene is presented with such rich and sophisticated detail the reader is taken on a journey and transformed into more of a voyeur hiding behind a velvet curtain…observing something forbidden. It’s hard to grasp that all this was created from an imagination. One is led to wonder if Grey Francis isn’t merely an author writing a story, but – perhaps – a true vampiress who lived it and is now opening up to tell her tale through the ages of this threesome’s adventures and struggles with sex, power, revenge, torture, lust, respect and – of course – love. I look forward to the next installment in this series!

    Passionate epic vampires
    G. Francis uses words to seduce a reader into an extraordinary world. Vampires are beautiful and deadly and yet she shows the reader the human side of her creatures. The world is breathtaking, and the history as the reader follows the characters through it, pure literature. This is not a quick read and should not be approached as such. This is an experience as she wraps you within her story. It is difficult to put down and once in your hands nearly impossible to put down.

    King in Chains…
This book was amazing! Alastair & Cassie have finally been reunited with Killian. Alastair has to learn to trust Killian again. We get a look back into Alastair’s past. Someone from his past is threatening Alistair’s family. The book contains love, betrayal, kidnapping, torture, longing, loss, redemption, erotic BDSM, and tons of hot steamy intimacy. Amazing book.., could not put it down…, can’t wait until the next book is released!!
